World Cancer Research Fund Hong Kong (WCRF HK) has announced that its annual Fruity Friday Campaign will take place on 26 June (Friday) 2009.
WCRF HK is part of a global network of cancer charities dedicated to funding research and educations focusing on the prevention of cancer. Countless studies have shown that we can reduce our risk of cancer by eating more fruits and vegetables, doing regular exercise, and controlling our body weight. The idea of Fruity Friday is to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in cancer prevention and to raise funds for WCRF’s research and education programmes.
Last year, Fruity Friday was on the 27 June 2008. Participating Corporations either hosted or organized a fruity lunch/tea party or even simply made it a dress down day at work and invited each of the participants to make a minimum donation of HK$20 to WCRF HK. Each participant also received free health information, including WCRF HK’s latest cancer prevention booklet “Eating Well”.
This is a great opportunity to help promote the importance of a healthy diet for staff and colleagues at the workplace. The WCRF HK has also announced that participating company/organization this year will receive a complimentary health talk by WCRF HK’s registered dietitian.
Let’s all support the Fruity Friday and make a difference.
