In a recent study it was found that toddlers who watch TV for more than 2 hours of a day had the risk of getting Asthma nearly doubled by the time they were 11 1/2 years old.
The research was carried out in the United Kingdom. It looked at the health of 3000 children from birth to age 11. The researchers state that TV watching may not be the cause per se but a marker for a sedentary lifestyle. It is theorized that exercise in early life likely strengthens the lungs thus decreasing the risk of asthma.
This is yet another reason why we need to encourage our kids to be active from infancy. Go to the beach and the park, kick a ball, play tennis, and cycle to help prevent asthma, as well as diabetes, heart disease and obesity.
